Directed Named CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Award Honoree for Next Generation RF Remotes
Vista, CA (January 7, 2014) – Directed today announced that it has been named an International CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for its Next Generation RF Remotes.
This new line of products represents the latest in RF remote technology with a more compact and improved aesthetic design while also increasing overall efficiency. All three remotes utilize Spread Spectrum Technology (SST) 900MHz and feature a single chip solution that combines the main IC, RF and power amplifier. The more efficient circuitry leads to higher power capabilities and significantly fewer components.
According to James Turner, Vice President of Product Management, “The one-way remote is the thinnest remote with a half-mile range ever made. It’s slimmed down with 20% less components and simplified with 20% larger buttons for easier use. A unique keypad design avoids accidental activation and users will get visual and audible confirmations of commands.”
The two-way LCD remote has 40% less components than previous iterations: 57 versus 92. As a result the rugged 3-piece design measures in at only 10 mm thick—the second thinnest 1-mile remote ever made. The unique keypad design avoids accidental activations and has 20% larger lock and unlock buttons. The remote provides visual, audible and vibrate confirmations of commands. It features high-grade finishes like satin-finished metal and can be charged via a Micro-B USB charging port.
The additional two-way remote introduced is the thinnest 2-way one-mile remote ever made. Its rugged 3-piece case design features the same high-grade finishes as the LCD remote. It also has a unique keypad design to avoid accidental activations and has 20% larger buttons than previous models. With 30% less components, the slender remote measures only 8mm thick. It offers visual and audible confirmations.
The next generation of remotes are included with Viper’s 3606V, 4606V and 5606V security systems. Users can also purchase them a la carte and build a custom system on their own. The combination of reduced size and single chip solution set these Directed models apart from the competition, setting a new standard for the product genre.
Directed's Next Generation RF Remotes will be displayed in The Venetian at the 2014 International CES, which runs January 7-10, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Honorees will also be displayed at CES Unveiled: The Official Media Event of the International CES from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, January 5 in South Seas Ballroom C at Mandalay Bay.
